The mobile telecommunications industry is booming in the Asia Pacific Region, and more specifically in China and the Greater China region. The wireless industry continues to experience huge growth and is seen as a key market by all the global mobile suppliers.

 

As of of the end of last year there were around 1.1 billion connections in the Asia Pacific region.

 

The Asia Pacific mobile market, including China, India, ASEAN, Korea and Japan, is worth US$164 billion and is anticipated to grow by 2010 to US$236 billion. In particular India, China and Indonesia are dominating growth in the mobile phone industry. These markets alone are forecast to add 160 million connections in 2007 and record 22% of new global subscribers in the period between 2005-2010.
